Rewarding Student Life

Beyond our first-class academics and research, UNCG is part of a vibrant community in a dynamic region of North Carolina abundant in lifestyle opportunities and natural beauty.

  • UNCG offers 350+ organizations, including 21 fraternities and sororities, 24 club sports teams, 35 religious and faith-based groups, 83 career and professional associations, and 44 performing arts clubs.
  • UNCG is located in Greensboro, the third largest city in NC. We’re in the heart of the Piedmont Triad, an emerging biotech research hub with a population of about 300,000 (similar in size to Cincinnati or Pittsburgh) and close to the Research Triangle, Charlotte, and Asheboro.
  • Greensboro is a college town. There are 14 four-year colleges and universities within 25 miles of UNCG’s campus, including 45,000 college and university students from four campuses within a mile of downtown Greensboro.
  • UNCG is located less than a mile from downtown, a compact, 58-acre area that includes a minor league baseball park, five performing arts spaces, 50+ restaurants, four breweries, and a hip restaurant, arts and nightlife district home to multiple independent venues. Plus it’s surrounded by a greenway that’s part of the 500+ miles of hiking and biking trails that run throughout the city.
